When you have made a study in Researchmanager, the next step is often making the template. This template has a fixed structure, in which you have all kinds of options to set up the questionnaires exactly they way you desire. If within the module you have the role of application manager or data manager then you can edit the template. Read here how it works.
Steps: getting started for the first time
- Navigate through the Main menu - > Management - > Study template;
- On the left you see the navigation overview (treeview), on the right you see the main screen (edit screen);
- Add one or multiple chapters, subchapters and paragraphs in the navigation overview;
- Add one or multiple components within a paragraph in the main screen.
Steps: editing an existing template
- Navigate through Main menu - > Management - > Study template;
- On the left you see the navigation overview (treeview), on the right you see the main screen (edit screen);
- Navigate to the desired level; Chapter - > Subchapter - > Paragraph - > Component , to edit one of the levels.
Extensive steps:
Go to https://myresearchmanager.com/NameCustomer . Log in with your username and password.
Attention: Does your organization use multiple modules within ResearchManager? In that case it could be that you first enter the module portal. Click on “EDC (Data management)”. Dependent on your settings it could be that you enter one of our other modules first. If you do not see “EDC (Data management)” in the top left corner of your screen, click on the logo you do see to get to the module portal. Then, click on “EDC (Data management)” as well.
Step 1: Navigate towards the study template
Click in the main menu on ‘Management’ and then, under the heading ‘Template settings’ on ‘Study template’.
Step 2: Getting to know the screen layout
The screen you see know is divided into two parts: on the left you see the navigation overview, also named treeview, while on the right you see the content of what you selected on the left.
The study template has different layers: chapters - > subchapters - > paragraphs - > components. If you select a chapter on the left, you see the subchapters that fall under it on the right.
If you select a subchapter on the left, you see the paragraphs in it on the right. And If you select a paragraph on the left, you see the components within the paragraph on the right. It is not possible to skip a level when building a study template: for example, components can only be placed in paragraphs, not directly in subchapters or chapters.
Step 3: Organizing the study template
Click on ‘Add chapter’. Fill in a title and possibly a description and export tag in the pop-up that appears. Then click on ‘Save and close’. Now you see the chapter in the navigation overview. If you click on it, you will see that nothing will appear on the right side, because you have not added any subchapters yet.
Because of that click on the plus icon on the left of the chapter title. This way the chapter unfolds. Then click on ‘Add subchapter’. Fill in a title and possibly a description and export tag as well and then click on ‘Save and Close’. Finally, add a paragraph under subchapter in the same way.
Step 4: Entering questions (components) on paragraph level
You will notice that the paragraph in the navigation overview cannot be unfolded. But If you click on it, the components of the paragraph will appear on the main screen. You add those by clicking on ‘Add component’ on the top right. In the pop-up that appears you fill in the title and choose the type of component.
Next, you save the component. You can still edit it after that and specify it further by clicking on the pencil icon under ‘Edit’. This opens a pop-up with multiple tabs.
- Base properties: Regardless of the type of component there are a few base properties that are always available. You can read what the properties can be used for on the page ‘Base properties of components’.
- Specific properties: Some components also have specific properties in addition to base properties. In the category ‘Management – Components’ on the support page you can find an article explaining and clarifying the use of every component.
- Conditions and dependencies: Finally, we show the tabs to set up conditions, and to show all the dependencies of a component. You can read more about conditions and dependencies on the page ‘Conditions and dependencies’.
